Murdock Is Free: Every Dog Deserves the Chance to Be Themselves

For Murdock, the shelter was never home.

Found as a stray, he was placed into a loud, overcrowded environment where the constant barking, kennel doors slamming, and daily chaos became overwhelming.

Like many sensitive dogs, Murdock struggled to cope with the stress.

But if you looked beyond the shelter environment, you saw a very different dog.

When someone called his name, he came forward.

He gently accepted treats.

He knew how to "sit."

He licked hands.

He calmly allowed himself to be leashed and walked.

These weren't the actions of a dog who had given up on people.

They were the actions of a dog desperately trying to cope with an environment that no longer allowed him to feel safe.

Murdock wasn't failing the shelter.

The shelter was failing Murdock.

Thankfully, Saving Dogs Inc. stepped in before it was too late.

Today, Murdock is free.

He's finally left the overwhelming shelter behind and can begin the important process of decompressing, healing, and learning that life doesn't have to be filled with fear and uncertainty.

Like so many rescue dogs, Murdock simply needed a chance in the right environment.

We're incredibly grateful to everyone who shared his story, pledged, donated, and helped make his rescue possible. Every person who spoke up for Murdock helped write a new ending to his story.

His journey isn't over... but the hardest part is behind him.

Freedom is the first step.

Now Murdock has the opportunity to become the dog he was always meant to be.
